Challenge to myself...

It's going to be a busy day. Workout, housecleaning, a couple of necessary phone calls, but through it all, I really want to accomplish what's left of the editing. I've less than fifteen pages to go. I've been bogged down in a few paragraphs on one page. I think I've finally worked them out. I'm hoping the rest goes faster. So, today, I want to see what I'm able to accomplish in the editing department.

My Heroes... Zackary Walls and Colton Haab

In Florida, company commander Captain Zackary Walls and Captain Colton Haab, two 17-year-olds involved in JROTC (Junior Reserves Officers' Training Corp), used their training to gather students and teachers out of the hall and into a classroom. There they made preparations to protect and defend. One had been in an active-shooter simulation with the police only weeks before. They prepared, knew what to do, and did it. Well done, gentlemen.

Writing Day

At least, that's what I hope to do, today. I'm struggling to make writing a priority.
Funny how life manages to get in the way.

REAL Week 447

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
Right up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.  Since my accident I haven't done these, but I'm working to add them back into my routine.

PT ~ Physical therapy
UB ~ Upper body exercises

SEALFit shared some good hints I want to learn and remember:

16: 2-mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x4. Stretch.

17: 2-mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x2. Stretch.

18: Rest.

19: 1-mile walk more or less, maybe, as my sister and I wandered around the Renaissance Fair. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x2. Stretch.

20: 1-mile walk. PT. UB.
Used 1-lb weights x4. Stretch.

21: 2-mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x6. Stretch.

22: 1-mile walk. PT. UB.
Used 1-lb weights x3. Stretch.

How'd today go?

Walk. Grocery shop. Social media and blogs. Bible study. Lunch. Physical therapy. Editing, the same three paragraphs, over and over, moving sentences, changing words, deleting, adding... Scripture study. Dinner. NCIS. Editing. Social media and blogs. Editing. I think I'm finally ready to move on from those three paragraphs, so much better. Sometimes, it's important to celebrate the little successes. I love this series of photos from last July.

How'd I do?

My sister and I attended the Renaissance Fair and had a great time. We enjoyed the music, food, and things to see. By mid afternoon, I was tiring, so Ruth brought me home. We ended up wet, as rain moved in. We made it into the car before the sky opened up to pouring rain. We laughed.

Not much else was done. I always come home tired but happy.

Today looks like it will be a busy day.

TBR

11. 12 Strong by Doug Stanton nonfiction. Yes, it's the book on which the movie is based. The book, of course, is more detailed. I won't be watching the movie. I can handle the violence in the written word, but I don't handle the sight of blood well. I have had friends who lived in the Middle East, missionaries and military. They changed my perspective; this book confirmed what I'd learned from them. I'm glad I read it, but I'm not sure I'll read it again. Mr. Stanton did his homework.

12. Private Reasons by Justine Davis contemporary romance. This book is actually followed by Wicked Secrets. The heroine in the latter is a secondary character in the former. This only matters to people, like me, who like to read books in order. Both books stand alone. One of the things I love about Justine Davis' books is that I'm able to see myself in her characters. They struggle with many of the same things I do.

13. GMC: Goal, Motivation and Conflict The Building Blocks of Good Fiction by Debra Dixon nonfiction. This book has been in my TBR pile for a long time. I'm not sure how useful I'll find it. I know authors who love it and swear by it. As I read, I had trouble processing some of the information in an understandable manner for me. This is not an unusual problem for me. I wish I could explain it, but I can't. The way some people write I'm able to adapt their ideas into a message I'm able to incorporate into my thinking. Other writers feel like they're trying to force squares into circles. I didn't find this particularly helpful, but others will.

14. Upon the Storm by Justine Davis contemporary romance. Another of Justine Davis' early books. Steamier than her later books. I've said it before and saying it again that I love her characters and see myself in them. I enjoying seeing her work through some of my own struggles because it's a completely different perspective.

15. To Hold an Eagle by Justine Davis contemporary romance. It's book 2 of the Reese books, but book 1 isn't available in paperback unless I purchase used. And, yes, I just purchased it. I want to know the hero's sister's story, too. I give 5 stars to stories that inspire me to buy another book by the same author. Her stories inspire me to be more courageous, more adventurous, more outgoing, a better person.

REAL Week 446

I started with doing one of each.  Since my accident I haven't done these, but I'm working to add them back into my routine. Currently, I can't sit on the floor and hope to get up again, so crunches and flutter kicks are on hold, and my pushups are against the wall.

Brain Dump

Rule #1: Stop lying, especially to yourself. Before baby became a word, the term was fetus, in Latin. Fetus = Baby It's a baby.
