Week 123 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.
Hip lifts
PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I've worked up to 50 and then 10 more.
BD ~ Belly dancing (my version of it, anyway)

The 25th: 2-mile walk. SEALp. PT. UB. BD.

The 26th: 4-mile walk. PT. BD. 1/4 hour of yard work. The cat claw growth is slowing.

The 27th: Rest.

The 28th: 2-mile walk. SEALp. PT. UB. BD.

The 29th: PT. BD.

The 30th: 2-mile walk. SEALp. PT. UB. BD.

The 31st: PT. BD. Happy Halloween. Link is to Mark Ratliff's Yahoo slideshow of his pumpkin carving amazement:

TBR list...

I read Cara Colter's How to Melt a Frozen Heart. It's a sweet romance. She's on my Yes List.

The story took some unexpected twists and turns. Ultimately, I loved it.

I have absolutely no idea why I took this picture, which to my mind makes it a perfect lead into Halloween. :-)

I figured it out!

It's a lavender flower in the backyard. Really. It's right in the center... don't worry if you can't see it. I shot and had trouble finding it.

Follow up to yesterday's plans...

Laundry is being put off until Friday. Soon enough.

Writing, yes.

Reading, yes.

Rethinking writing plan, maybe more manageable, for me and my editor. A good thing.

I like going to bed early and waking up early.

Carpe Diem... Martinsville...

NASCAR ~ Carl came in 12th. Go Carl!

What needs to be done?

Laundry.

Writing.

Reading.

Rethinking my schedule.

I've always held off on writing to the end of the day. It is truly the most important thing, which should put it first on my list. However, I've always written in the evening. Am I able to flip-flop my schedule? I don't know.

My Heroes... James Wilson...

Mr. Wilson was born in Scotland. He was 24 when he immigrated to America and became a supporter of the American fight for liberty. He was also a lawyer. When he wasn't serving in Congress, he was actively supporting the country in his private life. He was 34 when he voted for the Declaration of Independence. He was only 56 years old when he passed.

He accomplished so much without the help of a computer, a car, a telephone... He simply did what he needed to do. He did what was asked of him, but also had healthy boundaries, recognizing his own worth. The French King agreed to pay him for representing France in America, but then refused to pay him. Mr. Wilson expressed his displeasure and resigned.

As I read, in every case, these men were not idle.

Eating...

Didn't do well yesterday. Could have been worse, but I did too much stress eating. I enjoyed a delightful morning with a couple of good friends at my favorite eatery. We talked and laughed and worked through some dilemmas. I came home, and it started out well enough, but quickly went downhill as the day went on. I'll do better tomorrow. In the meantime, another peaceful picture I took of the park.

Brain Dump

Rule #1: Stop lying, especially to yourself. Before baby became a word, the term was fetus, in Latin. Fetus = Baby It's a baby.
