Week 190 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.

PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I'm starting low, at 10, to restart my workouts, with no weights yet.

6: 2-mile walk. PT. UB.

7: 2-mile walk. PT.

8: Rest.

9: 2-mile walk. PT.

10: 1-mile walk. PT.

11: 2-mile walk. PT.

12: 1-mile walk. PT.

The first picture was taken in February 2012. The second picture was taken in June 2012. Inspiration, at least to me:

TBR List...

11. The Governess and Mr. Granville by Abby Gaines ~ I have the oddest feeling there should be more books than the two in this "series." I can't help but wonder if the contract changed when the company changed management. Pity.

12. The Jesus Diet by Robin Merrill ~ It's a short read. I want to re-read one section a day and apply her advice. It won't hurt.

I won't be keeping track of the books I skim or skip to the end. Yes, this is here for a reason. I wasted a day on a boring book.

Tuesday Follow Up...

How'd I do?

I've added to Faith's Labor. Yay!

I'm enjoying As You Wish.

Cereal for breakfast. Simple. Easy. I enjoyed a bit of surf and turf for lunch: Black Angus burger (no bun), Tempura Shrimp, and mac and cheese. It was simply and yummy. :-) Chocolate chip cookies and milk finished it perfectly. For dinner it was cheese nachos with less than a dozen chips and some cheese I needed to use up and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Also yummy.

A good two-mile walk and physical therapy.

I did pretty well.

We'll see how today goes. More of the same and a little bit more.

Carpe Diem...

What needs to be done, today?

See how far I'm able to go with "Faith's Labor."

Reading.

The black smudge in the bottom left-hand corner is one of our feral cats. The temperatures are in the 80s. These are pictures of the lovely rain we had a couple of weeks ago... yes, a distraction.

My Heroes... Thomas Lynch Junior

Thomas was in his mid-late 20s at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and he wasn't the youngest. Rutledge was.

Fascinating history. His father, by the same name, was serving in Congress until he became ill and resigned. The younger Thomas Lynch Junior was elected and served for a brief period.

Unfortunately, neither man enjoyed good health. The younger resigned and on the way home, the elder passed away. Young Thomas' health continued to deteriorate. He was advised to move to the south of Europe. His wife, with whom he'd been acquainted since childhood, went with him. The ship was lost at sea and never heard of again.

He'd been educated at Eton and Cambridge and inns at the Temple. His father was wealthy. He could have had an easy life. Instead, he chose to fight for Independence. He was made a captain and recruited men until he was called to Congress.

At only 30 years of age: "Like a brilliant meteor, he beamed with splendor for a short period, and suddenly vanished forever."

The same will never be said of me, but I hope to do my part in the ongoing battle for man's right to choose for himself, a gift God intended from the beginning, knowing we would stumble and falter, providing a Savior because He knew.

Brain Dump Follow Up...

...from last Friday.

The government is not charity. It was never intended to be charity. It is, quite possibly, the furthest thing from charity.

It's often been said by wise souls that government is a necessary evil, so keep it small. (paraphrased)

The government lies, cheats, and steals. Explain to me again how this is Christian?

The government subsidizes Planned Parenthood. Christians, by and large are not pro-abortion. Please do not spout the tripe about how Planned Parenthood also provides mammograms. Did you know that most clinics do not have the facilities for mammograms? They are abortion clinics. They make their money on abortions. They make their money killing babies.

The government funds social programs to help the poor. Consider this: Vans sent out into poor neighborhoods to offer assistance to the poor are swarmed, not for food or water, not for help finding shelter, not for guidance in finding a job, but for condoms. Yes, you read that correctly. Explain to me again how Christians want their money to go to supporting someone else's sexlife?

The government has arrested people for feeding the homeless and shut down church-run soup kitchens. Could anything be anymore anti-Christian?

Rule #1: Stop lying, especially to yourself.

Thank Goodness It's Sunday
