TBR List...

Actually, I've decided to keep track of the books I've read. I can't remember all the ones I've read this month, but I'm adding what I remember here. I'm going to make this a once a week post. I will not include the books I deleted or tossed.

1. Sweet Freedom A La Mode ~ Christian short stories

2. Red Hot Squeaky Clean Romances ~ A bundle of books by different Christian authors. Some are novellas but several are full-length novels. I've added a couple of them to my Must Buy List.

3. It's Never Too Late A Shelter Valley Story by Tara Taylor Quinn ~ Contemporary romance. I've been following the series for several years. They're stand alone stories, but grouped together in small bits, like this trilogy.

4. Second Time's the Charm A Shelter Valley Story by Tara Taylor Quinn

5. The Moment of Truth A Shelter Valley Story by Tara Taylor Quinn

Tuesday Follow Up...

How'd I do?

The interior is ready to go! The cover template is sent to my cover artist. Woohoo!

Started a new book about ghost. Not my favorite subject, but I'm finding the book fascinating.

No writing done but mentally working through Faith's Labor.

Things always take so much longer than I planned or anticipated.

Carpe Diem...

What needs to be done today?

Download PDF of Holiday USA Anthology to CreateSpace. God have mercy on my soul. Then send the parameters of the cover to my cover artist, Carol Fiorillo. A remarkably patient woman. Bless her.

Reading.

Maybe some actual writing again.

My Heroes... Edward Rutledge

I first became aware of Edward Rutledge with the movie 1776, by John Cullum. I hadn't watched 1776 for a number of years and watched Northern Exposure. I struggled to place the man. I watched the movie again and was amazed. The Northern Exposure character was nothing like the 1776 character. A sign of a good actor. But this is not about John Cullum.

He was the youngest son of seven children of an Irish immigrant physician who died at too young leaving his twenty-seven-year-old wife a widow. Fortunately, she brought a wealthy dowery to the marriage neither squandered. Edward was given a classical education. At twenty, he went to London to study law at the Inner Temple, London.

I had no idea the Temple was built by the Knights Templar. There's a topic I'd like to study.

By 1773, Edward was back in South Carolina and admitted to the bar. He was the youngest, at only twenty-five, to sign the Declaration of Independence. He supported independence fiercely. He also opposed every proposition posed to extend slavery. (Another fallacy in 1776, which I'm finding depicts a number of false narratives.)

He was a prisoner of war for over a year. His mother was also forced to move from the country to the city, so the British could keep an eye on her. Clearly not a wilting violet.

In his sixtieth year, while he was the governor of South Carolina, he succumbed to gout, a flare brought on by a cold.

A man of honor and courage and unyielding determination and not quite what I expected.

Friday humor...

Why?

Please stop calling anything from the government free. It's a lie. A hoax. A scam. Nothing the government gives is free. NOTHING. Whatever the government gives it attained through taxes, sales tax, city tax, county tax, state tax, federal tax, fees, income tax, etc. Everyone pays, rich and poor. We can argue and bicker about who pays what and how much, which suits the government fine because it completely distracts from the truth: The government is the one who raises and lowers those amounts depending on how much they think they can get away with it, i.e., which voting block they're attempting to woo. How does it feel to be courted by the slick government bureaucrats? They whisper lies about helping the poor while they line their own pockets doing things for which the average taxpayer would be prosecuted and jailed, like insider trading. They promise to make sure everything is fair. By whose standard? Too many people assume it is by their own standard. It isn't. There is NO SUCH THING AS FAIR. Never has been. Never will be. Get over it. Welcome to real life. We pay the government, state and federal, through taxes. Free = Taxpayer funded. If it's free, you ARE paying for it. Are there those who "work the system?" Without a doubt, both at the top and at the bottom. Here's the real question: How much is your integrity, your honor worth? Free college? Free healthcare? Free... isn't free. The only thing in life truly free for the taking is the offer made by the Savior, Jesus Christ, and even that isn't free. He's asking for your soul, but at least you'll genuinely be given wealth beyond all imaginings when you accept His offer. Choose wisely.

Week 187 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.

PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I'm starting low, at 10, to restart my workouts, with no weights yet.

16: 1-1/2+ mile walk. PT.

17: 2-1/2 miles walk. PT.

18: Rest.

19: 1-1/2+ mile walk. PT.

20: 1-mile walk. PT.

21: 1-3/4 mile walk. PT.

22: 1-mile walk. PT.

The first picture was taken in February 2012. The second picture was taken in June 2012. Inspiration, at least to me:

Thank Goodness It's Sunday

~ Even a little fall of rain ~ Good books ~ Good movies ~ A/C, fans, ice ~ God's grace
