Mr. Gwinnett was a prideful man and lost sight of what mattered. He died in a dual over foolish pride.
So, why do I still list him as one of my heroes?
He did what needed to be done when it needed to be done to ensure the birth of a new nation.
Having said that, he also serves as an example: Doing something right once does not make a man honorable or courageous or wise. Anyone is capable of behaving rightly, once in a while. The challenge is to choose good on a consistent basis.
