9. I don't believe illegal immigrants should come to America and have the world at their feet, especially since THIS ISN'T WHAT THEY DO (spoiler: undocumented immigrants are ineligible for all those programs they're supposed to be abusing, and if they're "stealing" your job it's because your employer is hiring illegally). I'm not opposed to deporting people who are here illegally and with bad intentions, but I believe there are far more humane ways to handle undocumented immigration than our current practices (i.e., detaining children, splitting up families, ending DACA, etc).
Why do you talk like I'm unreasonable? I have to wonder if you understand that you are saying it's perfectly acceptable to lie, cheat, and break any and all laws you don't agree with. Why are you not only supporting but promoting breaking the law? Encouraging lawlessness is not compassionate.
To use your words: Spoiler Alert: Numerous news reports have found that many illegals do come to America to be taken care of because they are being told, in their home countries, that America will take care of them. Many states and/or cities give them free services, including welfare, food stamps, housing, and healthcare. If one child is an anchor baby, the services are provided for that child and everyone taking care of that child, regardless of whether they're here legally or not. Even without an anchor baby, their children are attending public schools that they are not paying for and receiving free meals. Because no one wants children to go hungry.
Employers that hire illegals are fined. However, that's only one aspect. I have a friend who has a house remodeling business and another with a landscaping business. While they are required to meet numerous regulations, including paying employee taxes, like social security, those who hire illegals don't. My friends' rock-bottom bids are always higher than those who hire illegals. They're both struggling and not sure they'll be able to continue. Their work is being stolen because they obey laws.
Perhaps you're willing to justify lawlessness because Congress practices it. Are the immigration laws lousy? Yes. They're too expensive and too complicated. However, those in Congress, the ones with power like Representatives and Senators, refuse to change things because this is a great money-earning narrative for them: "Donate to me and I'll change things." For the record: The Democrats could have passed sweeping changes the first two years of Obama's term. They had a majority, in the House and the Senate. They didn't need a single Republican to pass anything. Not a single Republican voted for Obamacare. Why didn't they change immigration while they were at it? Because it's a tug-on-the-heartstrings moneymaker, for both parties.
As to splitting up families? If you break the law, you will be separated from your family. Why are you willing to give greater privileges to people who are no better than you?
More importantly: 30% of the children with "family" are not with family. They are being trafficked. Are you saying that these children are less worthy of being protected? Your demands suggest that you support trafficking children; otherwise, you'd insist that children be separated and kept safe until familial relationships could be determined.
