Wednesday follow up...

With a deadline, it actually is helpful to follow up every day.

Writing? Not as much as I wanted. Today, I'll do better.

Reading? A bit.

Errands? Done.

Desert Rose meeting? So glad I attended. Steve Laube was informative and entertaining. If I were to consider an agent, he'd be on the top of my list of picks.

How'd I do?

Rewrites? Coming along on schedule.

Dictation? Done.

Reading? Enjoying.

Today is more of the same only I'm replacing the dictation with picking up work.

Carpe Diem... Bristol...

NASCAR ~ Carl came in 7th! Top 10 finish! Woohoo! Carl is moving to Joe Gibbs racing, next season. I wondered if he'd make the move, especially since he's had such a great relationship with Fenway. However, there was also the feeling he'd gone as far as he could go. He needed a change. Go Carl!

Rewrites for Tarnished Knight.

Dictation.

Reading. I'm catching up on a series by one of my favorite writers.

My Heroes... George Wythe...

As I read this biography, I had a vaguely unsettled feeling.

George Wythe was an only child of a wealthy family. His father died when he was young, and his mother raised him. Both saw to his education. However, his mother passed when he was only 20, and he spent the next 10 years indulging himself. At 30, he returned to his studies, pursuing law.

He supported the cause of independence from the first. Being from Virginia, he stood with John Hancock, Richard Henry Lee, and Thomas Jefferson. He served his state and taught at university.

I don't know why I felt a sense of unsavoriness about the man. I do know that less than upstanding men are capable of standing for good causes. If a man who is less than honorable is able to recognize and defend liberty, than how much more important is it for an honorable person to do so?

I fear that I will talk a good talk but fail to walk the walk.

A couple of my favorite quotes are from Edmund Burke and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

From Wikipedia: Edmund Burke's alleged quote bears a striking resemblance to the narrated theme of Sergei Bondarchuk's Soviet film version of Tolstoy's book "War and Peace", in which the narrator declares "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing," although since the original is in Russian various translations to English are possible.

Original quote: "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." ~ Edmund Burke

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Week 165 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.

PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I'm starting low, at 10, to restart my workouts, with no weights yet.

15: 1-mile walk. PT.

16: 2-mile walk. PT

17: Rest.

18: 1-1/2-mile walk, with 1-lb weight. PT.

19: 1/2 mile walk. PT.

20: 1-1/2-mile walk. PT.

21: 1/2 mile walk. PT.

The first picture was taken in February 2012. The second picture was taken in June 2012. Inspiration, at least to me:
