Week 375 of REAL

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
Right up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.  Since my accident I haven't done these, but I'm working to add them back into my routine.

UB ~ Upper body exercises

SEALFit shared some good hints I want to learn and remember:

23: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.

24: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch.

25: Rest.

26: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch. 

27: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.

28: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch.

29: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.

My Heroes... Martha Wayles Jefferson

I did not know she'd lost and infant son and been a widow for four years when she married Thomas Jefferson, at the age of twenty-three. Jefferson was twenty-six. Other biographers have written more extensively of this remarkable woman. In 1779, she was forced to flee with her two-month old child, from the British. The child didn't survive. Her husband was in constant danger. It's believed it broke her. She birthed a child in May and died in September, 1782. I wonder if she suffered postpartum depression, along with the other complications in her life. Their oldest daughter, Mrs. Mary Randolph, shared a great deal with the early biographer. During those months, Jefferson was always near. If not in the room, then in an adjoining room at the foot of the bed with the door open. Mrs. Randolph shared her experiences of accompanying her father and witnessing his grief.

16: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.

17: 5-minute elliptical walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch. Dog sitting changes things. Also hurt my foot. Don't know what I did.

18: Rest.

19: 1-1/2-mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch. Foot still a little sore. Only planned to walk a mile, but the sunrise was gorgeous. I didn't want to miss a minute of it.

20: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.

21: 1-1/mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights. Stretch.

22: Short walks. PT. UB. Stretch.
