For those not familiar with his story:
He served two tours and was decorated. He served honorably. He also deals with Combat PTSD. He left Florida and went to San Diego to receive treatment. Within days of arriving in San Diego, he was visiting friends and made a wrong turn, landing in Mexico. Since he was still looking for an apartment, all of his worldly goods were in his truck, including his legally owned firearms.
Mike Slater, a San Diego radio host and familiar with the area, drove the same route, filming the entire time, during daylight hours. He showed how confusing and badly marked the road was even for someone like him, someone who knows the route well. Sgt. Tamhooressi was driving it in the dark, for the first time. There was no place for him to turn around until he reached the border.
Video tape of the incident showed it to be a simple accident. The Mexican border guards arrested him instead of turning him around and sending him back. They kept him in solitary confinement because his life was being threatened.
I wrote several letters of encouragement. I hope they helped. I also followed what was happening on FB, including a prayer vigil page.
Yesterday, a Mexican judge demanded the Marine's release immediately, after over 7 months.
He didn't give up; his mother didn't give up; and we didn't give up. May God bless him beyond measure. He has been a blessing in my life, and I will continue to pray for him.
