Week 167 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.

PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I'm starting low, at 10, to restart my workouts, with no weights yet.

29: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT.

30: 2-mile walk. PT.

31: Rest.

September

1: 1-1/2-mile walk. PT.

2: 1/2-mile walk. PT.

3: 1-1/2-mile walk. PT.

4: 1/2-mile walk. PT.

The first picture was taken in February 2012. The second picture was taken in June 2012. Inspiration, at least to me:

S'mores Cookies experiment...

Earlier this year, I discovered Russell Stover Big Bite S'mores Bar, with caramel. Yummy!

Side note: I live in an area that's used as a test market. It's great and it's awful.

You find something you like, such as flour tortilla (instead of corn) chips, but it doesn't sell well in general and it goes away never to be seen again. This is what happened to the above bar. Russell Stover still has their dark chocolate variety, but it isn't the one I enjoy most. If I'm going to spend calories, I'm going to spend them on something I love not something I like. Thank you FlyLady for teaching me to keep in my life the things I love and let go of the things I like, making more room for the things I love.

Keebler jumped on the S'mores cookie bandwagon. I'm disappointed. I won't buy it again.

The difference?

Russell Stover is a chocolate covered marshmallow between two crisp graham crackers.

Keebler is a thin layer of marshmallow cream... actually, it's a cream filling masquerading as marshmallow and doing a bad job of it, between two graham crackers dipped in chocolate.

I could eat one Russell Stover bar and was very satisfied.

I ate one Keebler, and another and another... after four, I wasn't satisfied and was feeling a bit sick. Disappointing. Yes, I know it wasn't the brightest thing I've done.

Live and learn.

P.S. I have 3 more bags with 8 cookies each I need to dispose without feeling guilty. Yes, there are only 8 cookies per package. Have I mentioned I'm disappointed and not buying them again?

Tuesday Follow Up...

Tarnished Knight is in, and I've already found a continuity glitch. Bah! I've corrected it on the copy I'll compare to when the first edits come back. Track Changes is a wonderful thing.

A bit of reading. Yes. It's lovely.

And yes, I even started in on Wings to Fly.

I also slept about 8 hours, with only a brief wakeup in the middle. Feeling a bit flaky... okay, flakier than usual. I really need to be better about my sleep habits.

Thank Goodness It's Sunday... 222...

~ Debbie Kay runs the Hope for the Broken Hearted blog. She posts a prayer with a lovely picture, almost every day. This past week, she also included a video I'd never seen of "I Can Only Image" by Mercy Me, one of my favorites. Wow.

~ Hot, fresh pizza, straight from the oven to the box to my hot little hands.

~ Time with dog.

~ Writing, even if I am buried under it.

~ Cool mornings! And yes, still grateful, every day, for electricity and A/C.
