Week 169 of REAL...

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
RIght up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.

PT ~ Physical therapy using 2-lb and 1-lb weights, alternating days.
UB ~ Upper body exercises
I'm starting low, at 10, to restart my workouts, with no weights yet.

12: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT.

13: 2-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB.

14: Rest.

15: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB.

16: 1/2-mile walk. PT.

17: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB.

18: 1/2-mile walk. PT.

Comparing PopTarts to generic...

I don't know why I enjoy comparing, but I do.

Okay, PopTarts aren't the best way to spend 200 calories on 1 tart, a pastry with a filling and frosting. They are easy. No preparation, unless you want them toasted.

The taste difference is so slight it isn't really worth noting. Granted PopTarts offers a Cookies and Cream flavor that generic doesn't.

I probably won't buy either again anytime soon, but they didn't go on the never buy again list.

My Heroes... Those who serve...

With the anniversary of 9/11, this week, I found stories posted of many of the first responders. The sacrifices they made and the assurance of those left behind that even knowing the outcome they would have done it anyway. Those who saved lives and lost their own. Those who saved lives and continue to live with the haunting memories. Those that helped in the moment, and those who helped for months and years afterward.

Then there were those who didn't choose service as their life's work but served because it's who they are in their soul. The coworkers who helped each other. The total strangers who helped each other. The people who accepted the demand for courage beyond their own banded together and stood for good.

Then there were those who volunteered to serve God and country because they knew evil must be fought. Warriors who chose honor.

The US Army posted this on FB.

Following the food...

Friday, chicken sandwich, cics, tuna sandwich, dccf, Greek flat bread, fresh raspberries with pina colada yogurt, CIB, Dove, and milk.

Saturday, lemon croissant with hot chocolate, tuna sandwich on Greek flat bread, yogurt, dccf, cics, CIB, toast, Dove, and milk.

Sunday, grilled cheese sandwich and beef broth, hot chocolate and biscotti, toast, CIB, dccf, and milk.

Monday, chicken sandwich, dccf, grilled cheese sandwich and beef broth, CIB, kaiser roll, Cheez It, Brownie Brittle, Dove, and milk.

I'm eating terribly. I don't know what to do.

Tuesday, rice crispies, hamburger, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Dove, and milk.

I truly prefer starting the day with cereal and milk. Sandwiches throw me off. It might be a simple matter of routine. Funny how pb and j is still my go-to comfort food and helps me reestablish healthier routines.

Wednesday, rice crispies, grilled cheese sandwich and beef broth, buttered kaiser roll, CIB, and milk.

Thursday, lemon croissant with hot chocolate, slice of cheese, dccf, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Dove, kaiser roll, CIB, and milk.

Tomorrow is Friendship Day

Celebrate with a story. Just Friends The sixth novella in the series. Welcome back to Holiday, USA, small town America, where nothing happen...
