Brain Dump

I need to rant, so here it is. Feel free to skip.

Too much doesn't add up. I'm even finding it difficult to listen to my favorite podcasts. The complete lack of common sense or basic knowledge is appalling.

"People will be fine with a quarantine for a month, maybe two."

Really? People aren't handling this whole thing well, and we aren't even fully in quarantine yet.

"People will have to hunker down."

How do you hunker down when you have no job and no income to pay rent or utilities or for groceries that aren't on the shelves?

Who do you think puts those groceries on the shelves? Stockers, grocery store staff. People. Before that? Truckers. People. Before that? Product packing plant, run by people. Before that? Raw materials distributors. People.

Are they not quarantined? If not, then won't the virus spread because they've touched it? Isn't that what the news is saying? Everyone will have it.

Do you know how much food goes to restaurants? The ones that are being closed, many permanently, not because of bad practices on their part or bad food but bad handling of a situation over which they have no control. The same will happen to innumerable small businesses. How many owners will survive such a crushing blow?

God love farmers, but they can't do everything.

People run the water processing plants. People run the electric plants. People run the factories that process fruits and veggies and meat. Sometimes the produce and meat is prepared and packaged there, but sometimes it has to be shipped somewhere else. What about soap, cleaning supplies, beauty products, first aid products, feminine hygiene, baby products, clothes, electronic devices, paper products, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, supplements, motor oil and filters, the list is endless. Remember, people drive the trucks that deliver all this stuff.

You think people are going to not notice when diapers aren't available, the ones that have to be made in factories by people? You think people are going to be fine with dog and cat and other pet food not being made in factors by people?

Yes, many are mechanized. However, people are still involved. Machines are limited, and guess who fixes them? People.

What about the water heater or air conditioning going out or other electrical or plumbing problem? What about lawn care services? What happens if a tornado blows through? What about homes in the last tornado being rebuilt?

So the government is going to toss out money. Do they have any comprehension of the daily costs for everyday people? I'm not talking about the people who say they've pared down to barebones but still buy a fancy coffee on their way to work and the latest electronic devices. I'm talking about people who work hard to pay rent, utilities, and the basics.

What about the need for people to work, to feel useful, to connect with other people?

The hypocrisy of many and complete lack of understanding of imperfect human nature of others is so rampant hip waders are inadequate; a full body hazardous material suit is inadequate.

God have mercy on our souls.

For the record, I am hopeful. God is good. Miracles happen every day. I pray we're wise enough to recognize them when they happen and thank God for them.
