My Heroes... Dorothy Camber Walton

She married George Walton. Like many of the wives, little is known of her. Her husband, who started as a carpenter apprentice, was taken prisoner during the war. How did she respond? Especially when her husband wrote a letter with the air of never returning to her. And yet, he did. They had one son, who became Secretary of State under Andrew Jackson and later a governor of West Florida. Her husband passed in 1804, and she survived several more years. One couple made a mark on the world and birthed one child who followed in their footsteps. The power of one.
