The oldest of six sons, he was appointed the responsibility of caring for the families extensive properties while still a minor when his father and four sisters where killed by lightning. Though he attended William and Mary, he never finished after a disagreement with a professor. The governor of Virginia wanted to appoint him to an office, but Harrison didn't like the way legislation was leading the colonies into enslavement to England. He declined and wholeheartedly joined the battle for independence. He was repeatedly elected to positions in the state government and later served as governor himself. Of his surviving children, one would be the president of the United States.
Another story of a man who's life was difficult and he rose to the occasion, again and again.
