From the first time I heard about the Patriot Act, I started quoting Benjamin Franklin to anyone who would listen: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I'm of the same mind still. Our liberty is whittled away, and our safety diminishes.
