To Brian Williams: Please, stop. You didn't misspeak. You didn't stretch the truth. You weren't mistaken. You lied.

Rule #1: Stop lying, especially to yourself.

It's one thing to be kidnapped and sold into slavery; it's a whole different kettle of fish to willingly sell yourself into slavery. Allowing the lie to remain makes you a slave to the lie and all the subsequent lies. There is never only one.

Here's how to say it: I lied. I'm sorry. It will never happen again.
