The son of a prosperous farmer, even so, he couldn't afford school. He learned law by reading borrowed books. Integrity and patriotism were central in his life. He served as the President of Congress for a time. He was also a judge and governor.
Again and again, what I see in these men are men who craved learning, pursuing it no matter the odds. More than merely pursuing it, they made the pursuit of excellence a priority, being the best and highest self, serving others, more particularly their country, all their lives.
I'm slow to learning about honor and integrity, but I am learning.
